e-smith have an Open Source product called "SME server", which is a customised Red Hat server with simplified management. Might well be worth a look if I can find the time. Also, decent documentation is available here.

There's now a forum for Linux on laptops.

New laptop to play with, and I have set up a new dual-boot config with windoze XP and Red Hat 9.0 using my favourite LILO and NT boot-loader arrangement.
Only issue so far is with the Netgear PCMCIA wireless NIC that I have; at boot, the system message "please try using pci=biosirq" came up. Found this useful post on the subject and modified lilo.conf as suggested.
I now have a different error regarding IRQ's, so more to follow.......
